It has been revealed that the Camp Lejeune and MCAS New River drinking water was dangerously toxic between the years of 1953 to 1987 due to significant chemical contamination. Marines, their families, and civilian workers stationed at Camp Lejeune were exposed to water that was contaminated with cancer-causing chemicals. This includes chemicals such as benzene, TCE (trichloroethylene), PCE (perchloroethylene), and vinyl chloride. These chemicals were found in 2 of the primary water treatment facilities on base - Hadnot Point and Tarawa Terrace.

Those who lived or worked on base at any time during those years may have been exposed to contaminants that are linked to serious diseases, conditions and cancers, including...

  • Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML)

Here are the Camp Lejeune Water Contamination Lawsuit FAQs that Miller Law Group can help you with:

When can I file a claim?

Currently, there is no way to file a claim for damages against the military or government for causing these illnesses. There is a bill currently pending in the United States Senate that, if passed, would change that. If passed, those who either lived or worked at Camp Lejeune for 30 days or more, during the years 1953 to 1987, and got sick as a result would be entitled to file a claim regardless of how long ago the diagnosis occurred.
What if a potential claimant has already died?

Deceased individuals, regardless of how long ago they passed away, can also qualify for a claim through their family and/or representative. Their family may still recover if the death was related to the contaminated water.

How long do we have to file a claim?

The law will only allow individuals who qualify to file claims for TWO YEARS from the date this bill was signed into law. So, that means that your claim must be filed no later than approximately the spring of 2024, depending on when exactly the bill is signed into law. Any claim filed after the deadline could be subject to dismissal.
